Carob storage building

Post by El tel »

When I was out last year they were renovating the old Carob building on the headland above Corallia bay , has this been completed yet ? I believe it was going to be a restaurant , bar .

I walk past there quite often, work still in progress, often nobody there, large outside area has been created, new floors and mezzanine level inside, great location for a Taverna, right on the path villa stayers and guests from the Panneratti hotel take to get to the beach.

Knowing what it was like a cupla years ago, bird muck, rats, snakes etc, I won't be one of their first customers. Take our dog in this area most days.

At least an old and historic building has been rescued before it fell down. Let's hope it is being sympathetically restored. It most be over a year since they started , hoping it was going to be finished before I arrived in May but it does not look like it !

I took this shot several years ago, is it the same kind of building? this one is just to the west of Coral Bay on the headland, I thought then it would make a great bar or Taverna.

Jim , I think that might be the same building. I am trying to find a photo I took last May when the renovation first started.

Terry hello.

Yes I guessed it was the same building, here are a couple of internal shots taken at the same time..It had a lovely Fig tree inside, I guess it's gone now.

An update on this building. Now a restaurant , lounge bar and cafe called Porto Antico and sympathetically renovated. Been open just over a month and ate there last night. Quite busy and both food and service were excellent with a good atmosphere. Prices middle of the road , I had a fillet steak for 21 euros which was large enough to feed two.
Well signposted , if you turn left out of the Corallia beach car park it is the next turning on the left. Telephone number is 26 221 900.

We ended up eating there three times before we left last time and enjoyed every visit. Back next week and will certainly make it a weekly event. Plus it is very convenient for us. :-)
