Things to Do

Post by 2QuarterPints »

We arrive in Kato Paphos next week for two months and, during the rest of the year, we will be back out there for at least a further three months, broken up into two more visits. Having recently retired, all of our previous visits have been shorter "holiday" visits where just relaxing has been the priority. However, now that we are looking at longer periods we want to get involved in what is going on around us a bit more, particularly staying active and getting to know other people.

We have looked at P3A which seems to be very busy, and offers some really interesting activities, but not really for the likes of us who are in and out of Cyprus instead of being there permanently or for very long periods. One thing we would like to get involved in is some gentle walking (with the emphasis on gentle as it is not something we have done before) and we are hoping that there may be a Group that meets regularly and that might have a couple of vacant places? That's just one idea and we are hoping that those of you out there may have other ideas too.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Dave & Pauline

Whilst P3A has quite a number of permanent Cyprus residents as members visitors are always welcome and we have several who join in the various activities as and when they come to Cyprus. I am sure you will receive a warm welcome at whichever activity you would care to join for however long the length of time.

Regards

Rita

Hi Rita Thanks for the encouragement. The P3A gentle walking group is so popular that it has a waiting list. Must be lots of beginners like us! Jumping straight into the intermediate group, which does not appear to have a waiting list, might be counter-productive if we are not fit enough to cope in the early days. That group also has an expectation regarding a minimum number of walks etc, which is understandable given the popularity, but I doubt we would be able to satisfy the requirement during our visits. We will be checking out some of the other P3A activities though.

Hi Yioula Many thanks but as we are in Kato Paphos we need something a bit nearer to home.

Thanks again

Dave

How about lawn bowls? It is good exercise and not too strenuous. There are 3 clubs in the Paphos area - Aliathon in Paphos itself, Coral Bay and Peyia both based in Peyia. They all provide starter lessons to see if you might like it so a good way of exercising and meeting people.

That's a great idea Poppy, particularly as there are starter lessons.

Thank you.
