Paphos Villages

Post by Dominic »

Villages in Paphos

I will be adding a section on Villages to the main Paphos Life site soon. It will also be viewable from within Facebook.

The idea is that if you click on a specific village, you get a short bio, plus links to any blogs written about the village and it's surrounding area. You would also get a directory showing local shops etc.

My question is this, as well as a bio, what other info would you find useful? Specifically, I mean information common to all villages:

This sort of thing:

School (Y/N)
Buses (Y/N)
Mukhtar's Office Contact Details
Population
Rubbish Tax
Cemetery Tax
Local IPT

What else would you find useful?

Agree with Yioula, Tavernas, Bars. Plus nearby walking trails for ramblers?

How about available internet speed on Cyta lines, limited to 16mb download here in Kouklia village because they will not upgrade the copper links.

The disappointing thing is that Cyta recently promoted various upgrades including that those on 12mb would be upgraded to 20mb but here we cannot because Cyta haven't and, as far as they have made me aware, won't be providing adequate infrastructure for this potential improvement in service. Perhaps I should have led with available infrastructure and included continuity of water and electricity supply.

Having upgraded from BT with copper, where I was in theory on 20Mb/s but in practice about 13Mb/s - to Vodafone fibre, which in theory is a minimum of 53Mb/s and in practice is about 50Mb/s, I have to say that the difference for most operations like Mail, Web etc. is not noticeable. Where it makes a difference is in watching Catchup tv, downloading or uploading large files and so on, but overall, it doesn't change much.
