Geroskipou Sculpture Park

Post by Dominic »

As part of Pafo2017, a new Sculpture Park was commissioned in Geroskipou. Inspired by local history, legends and traditions, ten Cypriot and foreign sculptors have created on-site works drawing on the history of the area and, in this way, leaving behind them the traces of the European Capital of Culture. That's what the blurb says anyway. So what are they like?

IMHO, the Ariadne scuplture by the Chinese artist gets 10/10. The Ariadne Thread sculpture follows very closely behind with 9.5/10 as it's a very clever piece of 3D interwoven visual puzzle work for the brain and eyes to follow..

A very interesting blog once again thanks, Dom! AL :)

Ariadne is absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to see her when we finally return to Paphos next May for the first time in 6 years. Thank you for your directions . .. . . .we now know exactly where to go.

The timing was and still IS right for us and we are both totally looking forward to returning to a place we called home for many years.

We are both in a very happy content place right now but it does not STOP us from always loving the time we spent in Cyprus. Win win.

PS Memory Man, I may even bring you some Stornoway Black pudding.😉
Trev, is Hilarys kitchen still as white as I remember it and I hope your Strelizias are just as impressive.😁
Lloyd, I hope you're still as sexy looking. 😎 Silver fox. 😊

There as so many of you good peeps on this forum ( Louise Castricum) I was lucky enough to meet and I am thankful for it but. . . . . . . .I just have to give a wee special mention to my all time favourite. . sometimes CRABBIT, totally imposing and super bleeding intelligent , but always adorable Brian - - AKA DEVIL 😈, his wife Margaret and his lovely dog Beardie. ❤❤❤

PPS Sorry, I was always a beaut for taking things off topic. 😣

Hi Maggie. Is it really 6 years since you lived here, Wow. Yes the kitchen is still white, and just the same..
Sadly the gardens has had to be on a back burner this year, but maybe it will get some TLC next year.
The 'Bird of Paradise' is still thriving, and the birds are making good use of the foliage that is around the arch.. :-)
Trev..

The Sculpture Park modern sculpture does nothing for me! There are lots of genuine archaeological pieces cluttering up the Archaeological museums here. Too many to be displayed where they can be seen and appreciated. Maybe some of them which are too heavy to be stolen easily should have been utilised?
