Where do you go for a "proper" cuppa?

If you're not making your own cup of char at home..... where can you get a decent cup of Rosy Lee in your neck of the woods?

We went to Blackpool a couple of weeks back for a night out and an overnight stay to see a show. We had our lunch of fish and chips at Yorkshire Fisheries on Topping Street, Blackpool and got a very decent brew

I recall going on holiday to Crete many years ago (early 1990s) and it took us 5 days before we found a café which served tea with milk, without it being that awful creamer in the gold foil capsules.... fine in coffee but not in tea. And how often have you asked for tea with milk only for the milk to arrive warm???

Usually, if I'm in an unfamiliar place - rather than risk asking for tea with milk, I will ask for black tea or failing that I just go for coffee But I much prefer to drink tea when we're out exploring, I find it quenches the thirst better than coffee.

Photolady, you simply have to try Betty's in Harrogate!! Simply scrumptious, you truly won't be disappointed, I promise!! Not cheap tho!!! Super treat !!!

If you're in the area mebbe visit Mother Shiptons Well Knaresborough? Many items hung in the caves and frozen in time due to water ingress, pretty fascinating. Her history is also quite interesting, but depends on your level of belief!!

Whatever, won't be wasted I'm pretty sure!

I never enjoy a good old cuppa at our house in Chloraka, must be the water as it never tastes right, Coffee is fine but tea no thanks.

Other than "Tea for two" i personally struggle for a good cuppa tea in Paphos.

Yes Bettys is good but is it the tea that is so good or the surroundings or perhaps the cakes that come with the tea, very picturesque in Harrogate maybe that sways the call somewhat. perhaps its the Yorkshire water !!!!!

Yes, we use T for Two , usually now the most recent one opened, (Near the 'Triangle')

At home in Chlorakas, put the water through BRITA filter jug first and use PG pyramid T Bags.

The Tea Cup in Limassol, great homemade pies and cakes too. Nearer to home also recommend Rosie's Tearoom in Geraskipou does a good cuppa and can recommend their fruit scones served with proper clotted cream - yummy.

Now there's the problem - in relation to "tea" or tea and sweet things ie - cake.

My other half doesn't "do" sweet stuff. He would rather have a brew and a meat pie, whereas I would most likely prefer the original Afternoon Tea with small sandwiches and cakes.....

So, if I plan to take him to Bettys, whichever one it may be - it has to be for the right reasons and that seriously will not be for the cakes. But I can probably get away with using the words picturesque and surroundings whilst avoiding the word cake....

If we were in Paphos, we would often pop in to Tea For Two - he would have an English breakfast whilst I would end up with Lemon Meringue

Here at home for a proper cuppa! Yorkshire tea bags and filtered water via a Q water system - perfect!!

Never use teabags chez nous! The chemicals used to make the bags flavour the brew and can't improve one's health. Difficult to find loose tea round here, but M&S have English Breakfast (mediocre), Extra Strong (excellent) and De Luxe (very good) in 200 g packs.

I can remember years ago we were in Sri Lanka and visited a tea plantation. They told us there that tea bags were rubbish and were just the sweepings up!!We did buy "real" tea for a time when we got home but all too soon returned to tea bags for convenience.

Agreed about the Brita, it makes all the difference.

Not a tea drinker, but I have a few favourite places in Paphos for a decent hot chocolate drink! They all remember me because I ask for it to be strong and always the largest size!
