PL's upgraded Directory - missing companies

Post by cyprusmax47 »

I flicked last night through the new Directory which is a great improvement to the site. I realized that some of my favorite companies are missing on there. As I am shopping in Paphos more than 35 years I know there is a lot of fluctuation but there are also companies they proved to be good and still in the market.

I think in the Garden section is missing: ex London Supermarket but now only selling garden things with a huge variety of plants and experts around to tell you want is good or not to plant. Name is now: A.K. Home&Garden Ltd., Mesoyi Ave. 57

In the DIY section there is one company which stock high quality components you will not find in other DIY shops. Is the supplier for many companies here in Paphos. Name: Sozos, Jordanou &Son Ltd., Solonos Michaelidi str., (near Costa Tyreshop, second road down to the right)

Further: not only for Electronics but everything you can imagine.: Nicolaou electronics Ltd, Kaniggos str., since more than 20 years there...

And as I mentioned already, but there is no section yet: Costas Tyres and Batteries, Hellados Ave, (opposite the large Fruit Market Garden Eden) he is also there more than 20 years and is very popular not only for Expats. (Costas and wife run the place with about 8 employs)

There are many more companies I could recommend but at this moment I am getting ready for my Saturday Fish lunch.. :)

The directory is continuing to grow. I will soon be adding categories for Health and motoring etc. Most assuredly, Chris Cool and Costas will get a mention.

I will also be creating a new feeder section to the forum: Directory Additions. When that is complete new companies can be posted in there.

It will make my job a heck of a lot easier if when somebody posts a company, they include all the contact info they can, so that I can find it on google maps. The directory is map-based, and if I can't find it on the map, it won't be visible in the directory.

I have used all four of these companies this year, and I was well satisfied with prices and service.
My most recent purchase was a surge protected bank of sockets. I was told it would be difficult to replace my broken 8 sockets in one unit... but to try Nicolaou Electronics. They had a surge unit there with 10 sockets for 40 euros... Brilliant, back online in a couple of hours..

All good and well established companies. Excellent service and advice from Costas over the years. Nicolaou carry an amazing stock of electronic items, but I often find it hard to get served there. They are often very busy, and seeing a female Brit, they seem to prefer
serving male customers first...

I have added the above to the directory. Can't tell you how much easier it was with the map references, so thanks once again, Max. :)

Thank you Max, I noticed you had mentioned Sozos before and I was going to ask you where they were. Luckily you beat me to it. Very useful to have such recommendations, I think we should add an "Ask Max" section to the forum....... As long as I don't have to eat all that Fish that you keep chomping down, oh the bones :o

I'd actually used the Florists Max recommended earlier on in the year myself. I wanted some Ivory roses for my lovely wife, to mark our Ivory Wedding Anniversary. She loved the flowers but I think was more impressed that I had found her a new garden centre to visit.

As the Directory has got now also a section Health Care I would recommend companies/doctors I was using myself and have a good name:

For Blood Tests: Olympia K. Pavlidou & Sons, 95, Evagoras Pallikarides Ave. 8010 Paphos, 34.778709,32.424331
Tel.: lab 26 935 389, email: pavlideslabs@gmail.com
They take your blood test from 7 am and after a couple of hours you have the result either from the office or via email... They have always special Health Check offers starting with 50 Euro only and do also analysis on all water types...

Gastroenterologist: Dr. Christakis Ch. Palas M.D. 83, Ellados Ave, Flat 103, 8020 Paphos, 34.788726,32.433334
Tel.: 26 942700 - mob 99 675475
Recommended to me from many people, got his own medical ultrasound, very nice person. (discovered my double hernia  )

E.N.T Specialist: Dr. Constantia Vlotoma, office Blue Cross Medical Center, 51 Dimokratias Ave, 8028 Paphos, Tel. 26 22 11 11
was recommended to me from the owner of Elean Optical House, Mr. Arestis.

Eye Surgery, Laser Treatment: George N. Palexas, Office at Iasis Hospital, For Appointments Iasis Hospital. mobile 99 819 148
He is working normally at Moorfields Eye Hospital UK but comes every 2-3 month to Cyprus for the patients here. He did Laser Treatment on both of my eyes as I got secondary cataracts.. with very good success and not expensive. Much more comfortable than to drive to Limassol to the Pantheon Eye Clinic (Factory) After the second eye was done I could straight drive home on my own..(recommendation was from ELEAN Optician)

I need to figure out a way of including recommendations for doctors within hospitals. At the moment it is hospital based. IE there is a listing for Blue Cross etc.

I think if I add the specialities as a filter, I can then include the names and contact details of individual doctors in the description.

There is another small company I could recommend for people with fly screen, small windows, mirror issues:

B. Safaridis & A. Popov, over the road from Main Paps at the traffic lights, Tel. 99 332 794 & 99 935 604 - E-mail alexis.popov@mail.ru

Google: map 34.781081,32.425905

Used this company recently for large sliding door fly screen replacing. Including transport to Marathounda only 50 Euro.. :!:

Next door to this shop, to the left, is an excellent place that does everything glass related. They recently fixed a shattered shower door for us - I would not dare to think how expensive this would have been anywhere else - they made and delivered a replacement as agreed and to a very competetive rate indeed!

There are three shops on that little corner. We bought two large mirrors from what I guess is the same shop as you. Very good service.
