Hot with plenty of sunshine on Sunday

Post by Paphos Life »

Hot with plenty of sunshine on Sunday. Winds will be variable, westerly to northwesterly, light to moderate, force three to four. And the sea slight. The temperature will rise to 37 degrees Celsius inland, 33 C over western and southwestern coastal areas, 34 C in all other coastal areas and 27 C in the mountains.

The 3 yellow little planes fly every 10 minutes over my place in order to fight the fire between Tsada and Kallepia...

We had a peak of 37.2° C here, in Mosfiloti. This was short lived and, since then, the temperature has been oscillating between 35° and 36.3° C. This is very much in the range of what I forecasted. Translated to 0 elevation, instead of our current 280-odd metres, the peak would have been under 39° C. This justifies my scepticism about the published 40° C forecast in some media.

That was your post when it was forcasted a couple of days ago: 40° C? In your dreams! As I write, it's 29.9° C at about 300 m altitude, translated to about 32° C at inland sea level. Saturday and Sunday, my forecast predicts about 34° C.

So 37.2c is not 34c, what you have predicted.

Anyhow, in our area it was today one of the hottest .... and a nasty fire as well. Luckily there was not much wind with it.
