I am doing 'Patch up' painting and I have to wait until sections get in the shade. Or do as yesterday and start at 7am It is also a bit hot for heavy gardening in the sun.

40° C? In your dreams! As I write, it's 29.9° C at about 300 m altitude, translated to about 32° C at inland sea level. Saturday and Sunday, my forecast predicts about 34° C, translated to 36° C at inland sea level. Even allowing for an extra 2° C, it won't get anywhere near 40° C.
