Not as daft as it sounds, the amount of times I've seen people given £300 tickets for driving without insurance then not paying it, they are then cited to appear in the Justice of the Peace court where they plead guilty.

The Justice (a lay person being advised by a lawyer) reimpose's the £300 fine, but then , by law, MUST give a 25% discount for an early plea, so the accused walks away paying a fine of £225 with time to pay it up!
