Whilst individual refugees or asylum seekers may have valid reasons for wanting to remain in the countries they first arrived in, the basic problem is that as well as these people who may have already started the process of applying, there must be thousands without any good reason to be accepted by which ever country they arrived in. The overarching problem is that there are simply far too many people on the move.Is it fair to expect Europe-and its countries
to keeo absorbing any Tom , Dick or Harry who washes up unannounced..

Is the overall situation going to go out of control in popular (with displaced people) areas and countries around the Mediterranean? Is this number of" migrants who want rehoming becoming an unfair burden on countries such as Cyprus, who simply have neither the money or resources to continuing absorbing unlimited numbers of them?

Unless they are directly deported by the government Like it or lump it they are here to stay They are very unlikely to move on as many have no papers at all and have little hope of getting a passport ever – When they are moved around the UK as individuals or family units they seem to mingle well and are happy to try their new life and most British people are prepared to give them a chance in life but when they turn up in mass lots mainly men as has happened not far from where I live, As all UK councils were told they have to take their fair share of migrants -They stick together as you would expect and will not mingle with anyone and they resent everything They hang around street corners in large groups and intimidate anyone walking past – They don’t speak the language – The great meal ticket they were expecting has not materialised – They have nothing and see local’s that have everything so where is this going to end? In a lot of tears for everyone before very much longer – They are blamed for everything that happens or that goes missing and maybe rightly so but would you not do the same ? When comes to survival there are no rules – But clumping them altogether in one place is a recipe for disaster.

However, in other parts of Chloraka, within easy walking distance of the area of our complex there are many Syrian families who have settled in well and have become part of the community fabric. I do feel for those families that have been caught up in the recent troubles in another area.

One of those rounded up by police was a father of two from Idlib, Syria. Police gave him seven days to leave the complex with his family. They arrived by boat around eight months ago. The boys are aged two and a half years and six months, the latter was born in Cyprus.
The refugee spoke to the Cyprus Mail through an interpreter, saying he was shocked.

“We (Syrians) are not all the same, we fled here to Cyprus for a safe life for our family and now we have just days to leave our home, it’s just not possible, we don’t have the money” he explained. “We feel like a tinderbox, as if everything could go off at any time. If they (the authorities) want us to leave, why don’t they help us find somewhere to go.”

I believe what you said about possible plans to move some of the refugees to other areas in Paphos district may be true.Someone I know who had a house in Marathounda and was unable to sell it, due to the fact that the developer absconded with the money, before finishing the development. The house was subject to periodic flooding. Apparently it has been bought at a ridiculously low price by a Govt agency, who will make it habitable for use as refugee housing..or that was the plan.
