Geroskipou Bypass

Post by Dominic »

They've been building a new bypass in Geroskipou. It is going to make the industrial area a lot more accessible, and as you can see from this film, it is almost finished now. Once we have driven up and down its length we head for Konia.

Remember, this is a 360 film, so you can pan the camera around to wherever you want. If you have a keyboard, you can control the camera with either your mouse or the W,A,S and D keys.

It's great for access to the industrial area but it is hardly a by-pass because it doesn't go anywhere!

No sign of any work to cross the ravine near McDonalds, even though they are working on the road alongside it.

It is to connect the dual carriageway with the bypass. Thus bypassing part of Geroskipou.

Make sure you are watching it as a 4K film. It might be that your internet is a bit flaky so youtube has reduced the quality.

Well I learnt something, initially was a bit blurred but did as you advised Dom and changed the setting in youtube, clear as clear, thanks. 8-)

I found the video was useful and it was perfectly clear and a good picture when played on my IPad, using the link provided. I was also pleased to hear from Dominic that when finished, it will cross the ravine and will connect to the Paphos dual carriage way near McDonalds. As the garage we use is adjacent to the Gereskipou Industrial Estate, it will considerably reduce the length of time and distance to drive there!
Which is good news, as getting to that area was quite challenging while the new road was under construction..

There's a bridge crossing the motorway at the back of the industrial estate, I'm surprised they didn't put access roads to the motorway there.

I'm sorry but it wasn't even good enough to follow. I was hoping for a solution which other forum members have kindly provided, no thanks to you.

All 360 films I produce these days are 4K. I could make them 5K but a lot of devices can't cope with that, so I downscale them to 4K.

You have to remember though, that you will only ever see a portion of that 4k image at one time, so it will never look as crisp as the non-360 driving films I do.

The regular films are either 4K or 2.7K. Unless you are viewing on a 4K monitor both options will seem identical though, and even if you are there isn't a lot in it. 2.7K is good for widescreen footage with more colour depth, and slomo. I can actually get 240 frames per second @2.7K with my newest action camera. I am seriously waiting for some decent waves to put that through its paces properly. Ever since I got the camera the sea has been as calm as anything!

Wait for the winter gales, Dominic! Usually Dec/Jan/Feb., as I'm sure you know... The sea gets very lively between the See You Bar and Peyia. One year it washed part of the road into the sea. I remember Motorists had to use a temporary bypass through the banana plantations..

Just watching this film again. Does anyone know if the bypass has been finished yet or is nearing completion?

Thanks
