Keep your head down!

Post by Paul »

Has anyone noticed how low the military aircraft are flying over the hills during the day and in the evening?

We had one go over us at 9.35 pm last night.

There are as low as 400 feet above us in Choulou.

This has been going on for the last couple of days.

Yes, I also noticed this aircraft since a couple of days, specially at night. Once I saw it and it was quite large, flying very low over the hills of Episkopi.

Why are people complaining about the occasional aircraft over flying? If you live near any airport you can expect that. There are a small amount of military aircraft at times. Military forces need to train their pilots and often do this in exercises with other countries forces, at hone or abroad. Imagine what living near any major airport would be like. Most civilian commercial aircraft approach the airport here flying over the sea, only flying over land on approach and immediately after take off.
I live in Chloraka and barely notice them.

I dont see any complaints, this happens a couple of times a year.
They always fly low over our house and it is loud, I enjoy going out looking and looking at them

Yes, I also go outside when I hear them. During the pandemic there were virtually no aircraft in flight to be seen for a long time, so it seems good to me to hear things starting to get back to normal! It's been a very tough time for airlines and all who work for them..
My nephew who's an airline pilot feels lucky to still have his job!

The last one went over us at 10 pm last night.
The pilot likes his coffee black and one sugar!

Last night whilst sat outside looking over Polis, I noticed an aircraft heading towards, say the Blue Lagoon. As it appeared to approach the Akamas there was the sound of a jet and it did a complete about turn and headed back towards Turkey. As it headed back, there appeared to be two jets circling the Akamas. This event happened twice within an hour.
Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day.
