According to all credible sources Philip is still alive and well. It does highlight the issue of fake news though. Already on twitter there are reports of the Royal Standard being flown at half mast. This is despite the fact that:

1. Other people point out that it isn't actually at half mast.
2. The Royal Standard is never flown at half mast.

Actually this was a link from an ex services forum and I did say speculation, I didn't say I believed it just thought it was an inteŕesting topic and in future I'll keep it to myself. It's people like you who put the rest of us off writing on here, yes I know we can all have our opinions but some more than others end of.

Anne - don't take any notice of Flossie, she has always been a bit abrasive ;)
:D thank you, I've noticed that.

All forums have problems with rough members, Baz and I worked very hard over 16 years to remove some of them, unfortunately, some joined Dominic's new venture, you can't keep them all at bay, they are bored with their little lives they have to inflict this on some of us, take no notice.

People have different opinions - we are not all robots, brainwashed or trained monkeys in that we cannot think or speak up for ourselves.

We all have different ways of saying what we feel too. Some may be more eloquent than others and some may be very blunt. Others may be very passionate about what they say and raise their voices in writing.... But we should all be adult enough to deal with it and put it all into perspective.

I like this forum for the fact it allows us to state our different opinions. There would be nothing written if we all had to stand behind one train of thought.....

Long may it continue!

Do not think any of us on PL would disagree Julie, but insulting members openly is not on, at any time.

So, nobody died then........

Prince Philip is having a rest - on a permanent basis.

Strangely enough, when the news about Prince Philip came through I said to my other half "they're probably keeping him in the background so nobody can ask what he thinks about the General Election".....

What a shame that some on here have to turn Prince Phillips retirement into yet another chance to whinge. I hope he enjoys his retirement.

Did somebody mention the pit?

Ah, teeny problem. I tried to move some unsavoury comments to The Pit, but they didn't arrive.

Feel free to have a rant about them in the Pit though. Alternatively you could have a debate about them in the Politics section. :) Just keep the rants from the General Discussion Area please.

Would putting Philip in the pit be tantamount to treason, I wonder? I should reconsider that one Dominic - just in case ;-)

I can't, they've vanished.

-- EDIT --

Ah they turned up again! They have now been fully pitted.

Ah you see... someone was looking out for you making sure you didn't make a nasty mistake ending up continuing your webmaster days in a 6 x 4 room at Liz's pleasure :-)

Edit------------------
Oh no, obviously they weren't! Keep looking over your shoulder dear boy ;-)

Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, racialist? No way...

He was born in 1921 in Corfou. He's of Greek descent! This might make him a hard and fast male macho, but not a racial bigot, surely?

Fair play to him, for deciding to retire from public life at 96 years old. Who can deny him a restful and happy end of term? Hope I can live another 26 years like him!

Will the Queen join hubby in retirement? Perhaps handing over to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as King and Consort, perhaps? Bypassing Charles and Camilla? And Anne, and Andrew?

Who knows? Cheers- AL :)
