I worked on the new the new West Nile Delra Project at Idcut and refurbishment of an existing plant there. There was talk of piping gas from the Aphrodite' field to the Zohr field and then onshore to Idkut. Where there's plenty of process capacity.
Egyptians have no love for Turkey and favour Cyprus.
It would also save Cyprus billions of dollars building the infrastructure required to treat the gas. Prior to the massive offshore gas finds the plants at Idcut more or less stood idle.

That's interesting, why should that be, Jim?
Possibly the income from the gas?

Islam has as many variants as Christianity. Many hate others as much as they hate non-Muslims.

The comment under the article seems very sensible and advantageous for all concerned. However, as per usual, politics gets in the way...

Just bad blood between the two countries for centuries and as you say, the Muslim Brotherhood is another bone of contention. Both countries also look on themselves as the main player in the region.
