''People who received the first dose of AstraZeneca’s vaccine in March will be given a new date for their second shot, following a decision to shorten the wait from 12 to eight weeks........... Some 70,000 citizens who received a jab in early March will be sent an SMS with their new appointment, brought forward a month''.

Some people report on FB that they have received a SMS.
Others have phoned 1474 only to be told they will be sent a SMS and advised to turn up for original appointment if they do not receive one.

No, the advice was quite clear. Wait for the SMS and if you don't get one, come on the original date.

I wonder if anyone has received a text to call them forward for an earlier date for their second AZ vaccination? When this was first mooted, I and a friend still had another 5 weeks before our previously arranged appointments. But we have heard nothing.
So, we are going for our original 12 week appts, at the end of next week.

People to receive SMS for the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine

During a news conference, Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou said that as of Thursday 20 May, it is expected that SMS will be sent to people for rescheduling of their appointment for the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

As he said, in order to carry out the appointments, vaccinations will also take place on Sunday with the assistance of volunteers.

At the same time, the vaccination of people aged 20 and more with AstraZeneca vaccines by Personal Physicians proceeds normally in an effort to accelerate the vaccination plan.
So far, more than 320 Personal Physicians have received more than 26,000 doses of the vaccine.

I received a 2nd AZ Vaccine SMS yesterday evening for this Sunday instead of 3rd June at the Old Electricity Place. We had absolutely no waiting. Very well organised. x

Our second AZ jabs this morning. Appointments at 8.30 & 8,45, despite there being around a couple of hundred people there when we arrived at 08.00 names were called according to appointment time so were out by 9.15 including 15 mins resting. Very efficient.
The AZ desk is on the left and the Moderna on the right.
