Lockdown bike ride

Post by Anarita John »

Yesterday I had to take my bike from Anarita to the RideEasy bike shop in Paphos. The previous day I had picked up a puncture in Mandria. A big piece of glass went through my tyre. Luckily, the green sealant temporarily sealed the innertube, but, when I hit a bump, the tyre went down again until the sealent worked again.
The river bed on the B6 is now dry. This time last year, there was some water flowing and the year before it was a raging torrent.
When I got to the shop I decided to walk to Gerriskipou Beach. I had to walk to the left of Fabrica Hill because of the road works. Some interesting photos. Firstly, a natural stone structure which has been used to display icons. Lots of work ongoing and this archaelogical Park will be excellent when the walkways are constructed. Also past an Ottoman Turkish Baths and a house which I presume used to be a mosque. There is a modern day mosque nearby.
I then made my way to the harbour, where there are extensive works going on. Theos Cava was closed and shuttered, and was within the construction site. Paps was very quiet. On the coast path, a couple of hotels were open with a few Israeli and Eastern European guests. There were even people staying at some of the self catering apartments. A new addition to Paphos is the number of scooters delivering food. I saw lots and they were doing a roaring trade due to lockdown.
