The Covid-19 vaccination portal only for people aged 57-58 opened at 8am on Saturday and will close at 8pm, the Health Ministry has said.In total 15,000 appointment slots will be made available on the portal, it added.The Ministry also clarified that the portal will not be available at this stage for people over 59 years....

I think it means they have had the opportunity to do so.

Being in the 57 / 58 age group, I logged onto gesy at around 8.15 this morning, but the vaccination tab was missing.
Phoned 1471 at 9 o clock, got through on the second attempt and booked for Thursday

From what I can gather speaking the guy on the telephone it’s because people are waiting for the Pfizer jab so it’s freeing up the slots for the readily available Oxford AZ jab.

From reading this morning's comments on FB it appears there is now at least one older age group missing out because GESY is being so specific as to the age groups that can apply at any one time. Still a few 70+ have not managed to make an appointment and many in the early 60s.

When you book an appointment online do you get a text or email message (having input the details) when you book an appointment ? When I tried for my age group, I got nothing back so I am not even sure whether I actually have a valid appointment or not

Yes Trev you do. I booked for Bob and he received a text about 5 minutes later with appt. details.

Apologies for calling you Trev, my brain was otherwise engaged whilst I typed! As others have said, double check with 1474 as the system may have changed from a few weeks ago.

No worries about the name. Managed to get through to the 1474 number and they confirmed I have an appointment booked. Glad I checked as I was completely unsure whether I had done things correctly. Thanks to everyone who suggested ringing 1474.
