The two teenagers went out after forgetting to send an SMS. They say that they forgot. I wonder how many of us have done something similar? But they were stupid as they panicked when stopped by the police. In trying to escape they have landed themselves in even more trouble.

I would also be wondering Why they were out. Two of them and they Both forgot to do an SMS..
Then they do a runner and crash into a Police car.. It seems strange that they did not just stop and accept they were in the wrong. Just maybe there is more to come out in this story ..

We don't know why they were out or who the car belonged to, but presumably their documents, driving license, insurance etc must have been in order. Perhaps they had borrowed a parent's car and had gone either to a supermarket or for exercise, (or to collect or deliver drugs.) But forgotten to send an SMS. If it was the latter, that might explain why they panicked when stopped by the police.

The whole "gossip" story sounds a bit different in the view of their lawyers... PaphosPress, Google translate....

"Three-day detention orders for the 19-year-old and one-day detention for the 17-year-old were issued today by the Paphos District Court for the case of conspiracy to commit a crime and misdemeanor, causing malicious damage, reckless and dangerous driving, and failure to comply with a signal.

Lawyers Giorgos Tselepos for the 19-year-old and Elias Satolias for the 17-year-old did not object to the detention of their clients, after a relevant discussion, in order to conduct police investigations which are necessary for the two young people to indicate to the investigating authorities the path followed. the vehicle in pursuit.

According to the lawyers of the 19-year-old and the 17-year-old, their clients did not stop at the police signal because, as they stated, they did not have messages for their circulation, as required by the relevant decree, and they panicked.

Subsequently, the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle, causing it to stop on the left side of the road.

Then, while the members of the Police stopped their vehicle in front of the said vehicle, his driver started his vehicle and crashed violently on the door of the official car, while he tried to escape again.

Members of the police in order to stop the vehicle, number of shots fired and this was immobilized at a distance of about 200 meters, while the driver, 19 years of age and the co-driver aged 17 fled.

As a result of the collision in the official vehicle, the two members of the Police who were riding in it were injured and after they went to the Paphos General Hospital, where they received first aid, they were granted sick leave.

The above persons surrendered on their own to the Police and were subsequently arrested on court orders and taken into custody."

Sheer stupidity. Luckily the two policemen in their car weren't seriously injured. Serves the two teenagers right. Hope the driver will be banned from driving again for a while.
