3,510 doses of Pfizer Vaccine expected to arrive on January 18

Government Announcement - translation with official link attached
Information on Pfizer / BioNTeck vaccine deliveries
The Ministry of Health, after receiving an information received this afternoon from the European Commission and the company Pfizer, informs that, due to the upgrade of the production capacity that the company will carry out, the quantities of the vaccine that will be delivered in the next period to all Member States of the European Union will be temporarily reduced.
The reduction in quantity will temporarily affect the shipments in the second half of January until the beginning of February, without however affecting the total quantity that will be delivered in the 1st quarter of 2021.
As far as Cyprus is concerned, it is emphasized that the vaccinations scheduled for next week are not affected, nor the 3,466 appointments that will be available on Monday and will take place during the week of January 25-29, 2021. Also, in view of the start of its administration 2nd dose in people who have been vaccinated from 27 December 2020 onwards, it is clarified that the quantities required for the 2nd dose are stored and, therefore, the vaccinations will be carried out smoothly.
In Cyprus, 3,510 doses of the vaccine are expected to be received on January 18 instead of the 6,825 originally estimated delivery.

👍👎 sort of good news! But Cyprus needs to get on with its own vaccination programme before It starts to encourage tourists here starting in March.Since the EU hasn't ordered enough, I wonder whether Cyprus could source its supply of vaccines itself, if there are any available?

I cannot understand why the RP of Cyprus has given thousands of the vaccination drug to the North?

The drugs came from the EU. ROC merely passed them along. They weren't the ROC's to withhold. And besides, given that we all live on the same island, it makes sense to include everybody.

Because the occupied north is ostensibly part of the EU as per the RoC treaty to join the EU. Of course, should talks resume and fail again, then the RoC membership would then slip into dodgy ground.

But Turkey is already supplying the North with Vaccines. Here in the ROC we are very short of them.

No it wouldn't, Cyprus is recognised as one country by the EU, where do you get this stuff from, and its membership of the EU has no bearing on any reunification talks

An article in the Cyprus Mail back in November highlighted the risks of a failure to reunite. It was written by the guy who is a Cypriot born barrister based in London.
He was arguing that there was a real risk to their continued membership if they did not reunite and the RoC could not in practice claim to be THE Government of the whole Island. Alternatively, read the accession treaty.

WHL,
Why are you always so negative on issues such as this one?

It would be better for everyone living on this island if a fair and mutually beneficial settlement could be made. But that would take a big change in peoples attitudes and a desire to make it work.

Do you ever read the local news? Google Erdogan , you might learn something, before talking about attitudes and desire etc etc
