Tala square

Post by Mike.1940 »

What is the current position of Tala square. Has it been finished in time for visit at Easter by the Archbishop? Any one got a recent photo. Last one seen in October last year was total devastation

It looks nearly finished, I thought the deadline was July.

Thanks for the photos Jim.

It's a huge improvement after seeing what looked like a demolition site in all the previous photos we've had posted on the forums!

I don't really recognise it now but we did visit a few times some years ago as my sister in law and her husband both worked there at (I think it was called) "The Square" bar/restaurant. They left Cyprus over 11yrs ago... but that was a couple of years after they left Tala.

Nice photos as always, Jim- and thanks for sharing.

That local map in the fourth photo looks interesting. Any chance of a close-up of it the next time you pop up there, please?

Cheers- AL :)

We live in Peyia and thought we would have coffee in Tala today on the way home from shopping on the Polis Rd. Nothing was open. We parked by the church walked to where we usually have coffee and.....nothing. All closed. I was very disappointed.

Photos are great many thanks for the views, looks like the Archbishop got his whip out and cracked it in time for Easter. Will check it myself when I come over later this month.

Stunning transformation - looks really nice and will be great once full sunshine is back and all services back up and running.

Incidentally, there will be a performance on the square on Sunday and Monday, at 5pm, according to some banners that we have seen at the amphitheater.

Hope a decent coffee shop opens in Tala Square to complement the new layout.

What have Masa Soura done? The new wooden structures around the square with slats to give shade are (were) terrific. Now Masa Soura has covered these slats at their end with cheap wooden boarding and it looks a shambles. It's been like this for over a week. If they cover these boards with roofing felt it will look ghastly. If they tile it, it will be incongruous. If they leave it as it is, it will be awful.

As part of this upgrade a lot of "cone style posts" have been bolted in the roads . Some have been flattened already.

We saw a low loader trying to get through on the same day that they where fitted, it flattened several with a digger on the back.
Apparently they are there to stop people parking in the street, but the Tala car park isn't big enough to cater for all the cars that visit the bars and restaurants.

It is if they use the parking under the church and walk for about 30 meters!

Says who? Presumably you have some documented evidence for this statement?
