These very heavy showers yesterday were mostly very local. Going along the roads and observing where they were wet, some of the showers were less than 1 km across, although most of them were 2 to 3 km. This is quite typical of cells developing after a period of hot weather.

We were hit by heavy rains last year when we were staying near Larnaca. It resulted in flash floods along the Larnaca 'high street'. It was scary for a while, trying the park on the highest point until the water subsided, watching plant pots, bins, etc, bobbing past us.
