Tax form 2019

Post by Mrblobby »

Tax form for 2019 has gone live for me on Taxisnet.

It includes a section on Gesy , and asks details of your exemption certificate if you have an S1 .

The email of the POC and a very simple and basic note giving your details, you can apply for husband and wife on same email.
We received our reply the day after submitting the email.

If you are not with GESY what do you have to do then?

I really do not understand why anyone hasn't registered with GESY, it costs nothing and it's available in case of emergency if peoples private insurance fails them. :?:

Not everyone will be eligible.

If you are not of state pension age, do not work and pay into the social insurance scheme and do not yet have the MEU3 then you can't join GESY (at the moment as this could change in future)

We sent our email to Ms Michael on 29 August 2019 and (despite a follow-up prompt) received neither a reply nor acknowledgement.
We've just sent it again. Fingers crossed.

Just got a reply with attached official documents for both of us stating we are exempt from GESY taxation for 4 years. 55 minutes after our request!

"indefinitely" is indeed part of the main paragraph and refers to the European Regulation. If yours is the same as ours, the final sentence would be:

"The confirmation is valid for a period of 4 years from the date of issue"

Sorry , now I have read it again , indefinitely is part of the main text .

However mine does not have four years on it , it does have a note on the bottom “ NOTE : The above condition may be varied at any time without any further notice . “

The Tax return fields are populated.
Sign into the Taxisnet website and your account.
On Return Management select Submit / View Returns
On Tax returns - View/Submit select Submit
Choose a Tax Year - 2019

Crack on.

The GESY Exemption field is very easy it asks for the Reference number and Date. When you get your reply it will contain a PDF stamped and signed, file it away all you need is the ref and date.
Look out for the little up and down menu buttons which you have to toggle.
It is so much easier than a UK Tax return to complete.

Once you have submitted your Tax return you need to go here
https://taxportal.mof.gov.cy/Account/Login
and enter your Taxable Income and amount due. Its all very simple to follow. There is no need to pay at this time, it is just all ready for you when the time comes to do so.

What's the Euro/Sterling exchange rate for this year? I have emailed the tax office but, surprise surprise, no reply. Can't get through on the phone either!

I used €1.14 for the 2019 return, 2020 payments will be next year.

Using the data from the Cyprus Customs & Excise, in 2019 it averaged 1.1363 to Sterling.

Help needed please.

I am getting the message "Row 1. Field GHS WITHHELD must be number with maximum 9 digits and 2 fractional digits. Positive numbers do not need a sign". I have inserted eight noughts in front of the number to bring it up to nine with the decimal point and following number. i.e: 000000001.70. System still doesn't like it. I know this was discussed quite a few years ago but unfortunately I can't find the information. Can someone please put me right?

Also Part 4J where it says enter total income. This is darkened out and will not let me enter. For those who have completed the form will this be done automatically when I press self assessment?

Many thaanks
