Re: Heat
25c in our house with the aircon on. Just been outside and it is like walking into a greenhouse. Must be around 30c at 11:20pm. Today is the second day this year that we have used more electricity from our solar panels than we have produced.
Re: Heat
John this is the problem with AC you still have to go outside, I find it best to avoid its use, just ceiling fans but I can understand some find this heat very oppressive, more to come.
Jim.
Re: Heat
Yes, it looks as if it is going to be an unseasonal scorcher today, tomorrow and, to a lesser extent, the rest of the week. Even here, at 300 m altitude, my forecast looks like 40° C. Even now, at 09:53, it is already 35.2° C with the current rate of rise of 3.5° C/hour but this figure will diminish. Happily, the humidity is low at 21% just now.

Re: Heat
Jim, not too bad outside as the humidity is very low at the moment. Just been down to the Muckhtar's shop in Mandria for bread and it was 38c on the car thermometer, which is pretty accurate. The aircon is fine for us, as long as you do not have a huge differential between the inside and outside temperature. It is unseasonably hot, however, the humidity is lower than usual for Paphos. A couple of years ago we walked around Venice in a record 38c and coped. A couple of weeks later we walked around Paphos town and the temp was 30c and it was unbearable because of the 90% humidity.

Re: Heat
It must be the same for me. My PV panel keeps flashing red "low network voltage". Currently 215-16. Annoying to say the least!. .Anarita John wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 11:25 pm 25c in our house with the aircon on. Just been outside and it is like walking into a greenhouse. Re: Heat
Well, it peaked to 41.2° C here today at 14:27, record for this year – even at the end of August! This was measured on my most accurate weather station. This is crazy; if it had been 31.2° C, it would have been more credible. On my secondary weather station it actually reached 43.1° C but this system is less accurate, because it does not have forced air over the temperature sensor and the low average wind speed does not cool it. My third system peaked at 42.3° C at 14:20, also without forced air and little wind.

Weather warning. 'High disruption due to High Temperatures.'
"Breakdowns in Infrastructure are likely.'
Seen on <weatherundeerground.com> Temperatures at Paphos Airport.
Have just checked the local weather forecast, but we all know that today and the next few are likely to be very hot indeed.
So stay in and try to keep cool and drink plenty of fluids is the best advice.

Re: Heat
That is certainly hot for the time of day. We have 28c here in our village above Paphos.. But we have had the aircon on for quite a number of hours today... No doubt it will be the same for around the next week
Both the heat and the aircon
Both the heat and the aircon

Re: Heat
Even here it looks as if it is going to be hot on Friday and Saturday. I believe that these kinds of temperature are unprecedented for September. Certainly, they have not occurred over the last 15 years that I have been monitoring the weather. Note that the wind speed is very low for all of the next few days. This will reduce the cooling effect on the body.
Re: Heat
Well Im not complaining, family back in the UK have the central heating on, one of the reasons we came over to live in Cyprus was for the hot climate, when it gets too hot, my way of dealing with it is to jump into the pool/sea, and open the fridge for a cold one, Happy days, may it long last.

Out of that list, the only thing I do is water the plants, I guess that comes under gardeningLes Bean wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 2:04 pmYes for many of us a warmer climate was one factor, however in the 30 years we've been here the length of the uncomfortably hot season has got longer. Normally at this time of year we would be having some relief. Like you we love the beach, but shopping, gardening, cooking, washing, ironing and other sundry odd jobs must still be done and doing most of those is not pleasant by anyone's standardWHL wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 10:11 am Well Im not complaining, family back in the UK have the central heating on, one of the reasons we came over to live in Cyprus was for the hot climate, when it gets too hot, my way of dealing with it is to jump into the pool/sea, and open the fridge for a cold one, Happy days, may it long last.
