Strange that according to https://in-cyprus.philenews.com/nine-ne ... 176-tests/ there were only 9 cases.

Not good. But almost inevitable once the number of flights arriving here escalates, so the number of cases of the virus appear.
Thank goodness we have a switched on Health set up, lots of testing of arrivals, and an established track and trace system. Notice that Holland has been downgraded from Cat B to C, whereas Greece has remained in Cat B, despite an apparent increase in the number of Covid cases there.

This was updated by an additional 9 to the 30 reported earlier today to make a revised total of 39 for the day.

Are we sure that those travelling from Mykonos were not Cypriot tourists to that island returning to Cyprus after their hols?

Yes. But hopefully quick action here will control the possible spread

I thought that people from Cat B countries had to have a Covid 19 test and certificate giving a negative result, 72 hrs before entry to Cyprus, or are the rules different for each country ?

That's what I have arranged before I fly.

Chances are that all these passengers were actually Cypriots returning from their jollies in Mykonos where they were infected and as Cypriot citizens they only had to have a test upon arrival back in Cyprus. This is probably when their infection was detected. Heaven knows what the situation is with all the other passengers on the plane.

If the country is Category B then ALL who enter Cyprus should have a Covid test negative before getting onto the plane ✈️

Yes, they do, but as was said previously, Cypriot citizens returning to Cyprus can be tested on arrival. As can legal permanent residents here. End Of.

It's a dangerous loophole in the present arrangements.

It should be pointed out that these were almost all false positives. The lab in question has been suspended.
