Well done the Police for finding this individual. Make him pay for all the damage as well as a hefty fine.

I saw those poor young trees on Saturday morning, what a mess they looked. There were several young trees outside the old Post Office, all with a main branch part hacked off. Such mindless damage, in my mind having too much to drink is not an excuse to do this.
I also hope that the man will have to pay a substantial fine for his act of vandalism. He must have had a sharp implement with him too.
The trees will live, but I hope he will also have to pay for removing the branches affected.

Not sharia law, but someone suggested 'stocks'.A morning spent in the stocks which should be in a public place, with a notice in front saying'Vandal' or its Greek equivalent. Where he could be pelted with rotten eggs or tomatoes and generally abused verbally, might help and act as a deterrent to others...

Tongue in cheek Lincoln, but as Dee said, maybe actually not a bad idea!
