Let's hope so! As usual the Govt and the Heath Minister are reported as acting very decisively to track and trace all the contacts of the woman who arrived from the USA. We have another thread on this board about the woman who is currently in quarantine, as hopefully all her contacts are too.

''Cyprus’ current coronavirus reproduction number is between 1.6 and 2, experts in the government’s coronavirus taskforce said Thursday, noting that the goal is not a second lockdown, but that should our frame of mind should not be that of running a quick race, but a marathon.
Speaking at a press conference, members of the government’s team of coronavirus advisors Dr Zoi-Dorothea Pana and Professor Leontios Kostrikis said the renewed spread of the virus is occurring mostly among young, asymptomatic carriers, as the Cyprus health minister Constantinos Ioannou had warned on Wednesday''.

Without preaching doom and gloom I am not holding my breath on the "in two to three weeks" reductions in the R number to previous low levels ( <1 ? )
Only time will tell
1.6 and 2.0 is a worrying number especially with the current influx of tourists added to the mix

Probably the time of year, with the airports open and some people traveling again, inevitably helps fuel an increase of the virus.Especially with irresponsible tourists like that woman from the USA recently who ignored the need to self isolate.. But also with the summer weather and the holiday season the virus can be spread by young people taking their holidays who forget to self distance when they are out in popular places like coffee bars and bars and beaches. I read that increasing numbers when tested show evidence of being a-symptomatic.
The paper today says that the Govt have increased the number of people being tested at airports and other places. They are now planning unscheduled tests in different areas using their teams and mobile testing equipment...
Today's Cyprus Mail has all the info, but I'm not able to copy and post things on here.
Take care, stay safe when out and about.
