Broadband Providers

Post by robf »

We are currently with CYTA, however they only do standby rates for 6 months per year, plus the router is not the best. Does anyone have any suggestions of other providers who do not limit the standby times? (by standby rates I am meaning the lower rate when we disconnect as we are not in Cyprus).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've used Ecotech for two years now, its cheaper than Cyta and I have never had any issues with a signal or anything else for that matter.
Though I have no idea about their standby rates

I "usually" spend 4-6 months pa at my place in Kato Paphos

My BB provider is BlueNet based on Apostolou Pavlou Road ( same side as the Sun Centre/Cosmic Bowling ) but 200-300 metres further up the hill towards the old town

Its a fairly simple, inexpensive process, after they have "set it up" which I think was a one off fee for €99, to include the router, a WISP aerial fitted on the roof and the cabling to the router. This was about 6 years ago so the cost may have changed

Its a simple enough process to pay for the service on a PAYG basis for my visit a few days prior to leaving the UK and its always turned on for when I arrive

Depending on when my return flight to the UK is, If I need to extend whilst I am there I usually pop up to the shop and pay for the week or so to extend the period till my due return date

There are 2-3 other users in my complex that use BlueNet and all seem happy with the service. They offer a choice of plans dependent on what size service that you want providing for your needs. I usually go for 10MB and my MAG Box and day to day internet access is fine

Cyta have recently brought out a new router which has made all the difference to the reliability of their service to me. No charge, you just take your old one in to their main office and they replace it.
Don't know if this will be of any help to you.

I use Fusion IT, if your not in country you can switch on and off whenever you like, excellent service and very reliable. 8-)
I started off with nothing and have most of it left !

We use a small store in Polis to provide wifi and tv. We simply pay whilst there and they halt the service when we are not.

It may well be helpful, but it's not in a language I understand.

Can I change the language somewhere?

I use the Chrome browser which allows you to translate pages on the fly - its a right click option when on a page.
