Be very careful with this kind of information. In the first place, I believe that this drug is effective only for de-congesting the lungs and not for any of the other symptoms. I have been taking this drug for about two years for the treatment, in extremis, of prostate cancer. Believe me, even though my dosages are very small (1 mg per day), it has a number of very severe side effects which require very harsh treatment to counter and the drugs used for this cause even more side effects.

I give this warning because the drug is readily available and sometimes sold without prescription. Self-medication with dexamethasone would be foolish in the extreme. It is not a prophylaxis for coronavirus and, if taken without real cause, will probably cause much more harm than good.

The following side effects are common (occurring in greater than 30%) for patients taking dexamethasone:

Increased appetite
Irritability
Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
Swelling in your ankles and feet (fluid retention)
Heartburn
Muscle weakness
Impaired wound healing
Increased blood sugar levels. (Persons with Diabetes may need to have blood sugar levels monitored more closely and possible adjustments to diabetes medications).

I think over the next 6 months we will be bombarded with ‘treatments’ ‘vaccines’ and other news and sadly, some of it will be premature - like the Oxford Uni trial that kind of promised a September vacccine...

The most advanced vaccine so far is from a Chinese company, unsurprisingly, that appears to create antibodies in 90% of trialists.... they are now going into final trial. No guarantees with any of these, but with the amount of money to be made on this, I’d imagine every Pharma in the world is working overtime, so fingers crossed...

As well as this steroid, plasma replacement is now widely used as a treatment. So progress is being made. I wonder why this one is getting such favourable and wide coverage?

Yes Brian . . . . . . And you are still alive. Are you saying the disadvantages outweigh the benefits? Apologies, but I have to ask this question?

If I was on a ventilator struggling to breathe. . . . . Reckon I would be saying "Just give me the stuff." I'll deal with the side effects later.

I cannot imagine what you have to through on a daily basis but, it is in human nature to . . . . just want to survive. X
