Repair Teak Dining Chairs

Post by Alewfin »

Can anyone recommend a carpenter who is experienced at repairing teak dining room chairs.

The heat keeps drying the joints our and the legs are loose.

Thanks in advance.

Just a suggestion. Get some teak oil, rub well in and all around the joints. Then use large clamps to pull the joints gently together. Teak loves oil. We had a six lovely teak chairs and as we used teak oil on them never had any problems. Good luck.

Yours may or may not be. If the joints are contaminated with oil, it may not be possible to subsequently glue them together. I am sure Mark will be able to advise you.
Having served an apprenticeship as a Saw Doctor and joiner, I do know what I am talking about. No one would place oil IN the JOINT only rub the teak around the joints. As per my suggestion above.

Your wording.
AROUND the joints NOT in the joints.

What's not to understand? Clearly says 'in'
You obviously cannot understand, and so I give up on your SIMPLE rhetoric.

Well the OP did ask for a carpenter with experience on teak furniture, not a DIY solution.
HiC gave a contact for a good carpenter.
The OP will be pleasantly surprised at the responses when he gets around to check his post lol

Thank you everybody.

I have contacted Mark.

I'm glad I didn't ask whether anyone knew of a good brain surgeon.
