Help with Laptop win 10 problem

Good morning

I am having a problem opening windows 10 and each time I try to restart the computer it comes up with this. I hope you can read, I tried to enlarge smaller text. I can’t go any further than this from this screen, it doesn’t restart as it says. When I turn off, wait at least 5 minutes and start again, it tries to check and undertake a repair then goes back to this screen. This has only happened since the last forced update. At one time it gave me the option to uninstall last update but came back with a message that I could not do this. Please tell me this isn’t the blue screen of death.

I know an option is to take it in to Brian SOS but I am extremely high risk to the virus and am advised not to leave the house. I hope someone can tell me what to do, I am computer savvy, to a certain extent.

Given that their option 1 is restore to a previous working version, it is fairly drastic.

Personally, I would try the options that involve booting to safe mode first.

To boot to safe mode:

Click the Windows-button → Power.
Hold down the shift key and click Restart.
Click the option Troubleshoot and then Advanced options.
Go to “Advanced options” and click Start-up Settings.
Under “Start-up Settings” click Restart.
Various boot options are displayed. ...
Windows 10 starts in Safe Mode.

Note that you may also see other options in these menus that can help. Try just booting to safe mode first though, to see what happens.

I am no buff either, but I sometimes find with a problem like this if you take the battery out for a minute or two and then put it back and start up it can sort a problem. Like unplugging a PC from the mains,

Windows 10 has disabled the F8 key function so my reply would not work so I deleted it.

Try to restart the computer 3 times then see if it gives you more option for a repair.

You have the dreaded blue screen of death (BSoD). There are hundreds of ways that this can happen but, in your case, it tells you that you have a bad system configuration. When you get the computer started do a search for Bad System Config Info and it may give you a choice of potential errors. The problem is that these potential errors can frequently not be understood by non-geeks (and often by geeks!).

Provided you pay for his travel expenses and time, you may be able to find an expert who can sort it out for you but ask for an estimate before giving him the green light, just to avoid any nasty surprises.

Presuming it's a laptop?

Also, with the battery removed and charger disconnected, press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds, then try again.

I'm not confident that the above will work and think the 'safe-mode' option would be better.

Press Safe mode.

Boot to safe mode. If that works, the first thing to try is just a normal restart, to see if you have sorted it already.

If not, unplug all unnecessary peripherals if you have any, and try again.

I really wish I could as nothing is working but as I said in my original post, I’m advised not to leave the house or mix with others. Also, my car not working. I’ve gone through all the advance options, including the command prompt. I don’t have anyone to help to take to SOS.

Frustrating as I have stuff on there I need to send urgently to U.K. that I’ve been working on for weeks. I’m truly stuck! Boo bloody hoo

Perhaps contact Brian at Computer SOS - he may even arrange to collect the computer from you if you are fairly close to the shop and taking into consideration your health concerns.

How are you currently accessing this forum?

I’ve gone through all the advance options, including the command prompt. I don’t have anyone to help to take to SOS.

suggest that you:-
In the Command Prompt window, type the "bcdedit/deletevalue {default} numproc" command and press Enter on the keyboard to execute it.
Now, type the "bcdedit/deletevalue {default} truncatememory" command and press Enter.
Close the Command Prompt window, exit Automatic Repair and try to start the Windows operating system to see if this fixes the "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" blue screen error.

It's easy to be wise after the event, but good backups are always useful in these circumstances.
I use Dropbox for my documents and Google photos for photos.

I’m accessing Forum on an iPad.

I always backup, information not lost, on a memory stick but, I cannot access it without my laptop to send to UK

I will try your suggestion, I’m currently taking an hour or two away from laptop for my sanity.
