How well organised the testing is in Cyprus. The efficacy of Cyprus’s ‘track and trace’ ‘policy is certainly pivotal in preventing spread of the virus in the community.. The UK has realised that they need to do this too, but haven't as yet been able to get this organised. They are even starting to realise that the wearing of a mask by the public when in a crowded place has its own advantages as well. But apparently not until they start procedures to try to emerge from their lock down.
Thus the poor UK is still way behind what Cyprus is managing to do. Well done Cyprus.

I agree with you entirely, HIC. It wasn’t helped initially by politicians strange obsession with a scientific theory that by doing nothing ‘herd immunity” would develop!
But what is happening now is a building disaster in terms to lives lost.

The only explanation to the open-ports, lack of testing, no tracing and other mistakes, is that herd immunity is still being pursued.

The quarantine/medical checks question was covered on the daily briefing last week and answered by one of the advisors present.
She said there was no significant benefit from doing so at air or seas ports of entry.

That 'following the science" is now beyond a joke. EVERY scientist outside their SAGE group agrees that isolating people on entry, is the right thing to do. You put them into the empty hotels, charge them for the benefit and keep them in their rooms.

I wish I was wrong about the herd immunity, but I don't think they had the intention for lockdown, but were forced into it by the outcry. They then found that they had over-prepared the hospital beds (with the Nightingale ones not used) By not testing and tracing from the beginning when the best science was to follow South Korea and then Germany, by then pushing people out of hospitals into care homes, without being tested, by then not locking down fully, allowing people on tubes, allowing construction to continue etc. There is no other explanation.
