I had this text message this morning from AHK .

Did anyone else get one ?

“ Dear Customer,
your Community has been selected to participate in the pilot application we are studying to record electricity consumption, with your own contribution.
Relevant sms message will be sent within the next couple of days.
Click here for more information. “

What happened or showed when you 'clicked for more information' ?

I don't click any unsolicited link before independently checking that it isn't a scam.

Please send within 48 hours your electricity consumption to 99205394:
SMS (EAC Meter No "space" Counter Indication) or
Viber/WhatsApp send a photo or
e-mail at meterreading-paphos@eac.com.cy

I just checked my records and my meter is due to be read about now .

It must be their way of telling me the meter reader is not coming .

Protecting our Health: New pilot method for Electricity Meter Reading
Dear customer,
With the coronavirus pandemic in full progress, it is our constant effort to serve you in the best
possible way, protecting both your own health and the health of our personnel. One of the
measures we are considering, is to record your electricity meter, with your own contribution,
without EAC visits.
In this context, your Community has been selected to test this new way of meter reading with
the participation of all our customers in your Community. For this purpose we will send you an
sms message within the next couple of days explaining how to send us your meter reading
within 48 hours using one of the following methods:
1. SMS message to 99205394, where first you type the EAC Meter number followed by the
meter indication without decimals: (ΧΧΧΧΧΧΧ "space" 0-99999).
(Please note that the above telephone number does not receive telephone calls)
2. Send picture of EAC Meter indication via Viber or WhatsApp, at 99205394.
3. Send picture of EAC Meter indication via e-mail to meterreading-paphos@eac.com.cy
For further information and assistance do not hesitate to contact us on 26206182.
Thank you for your cooperation and contribution to the struggle for health protection! Electricity Authority of Cyprus.
In the event that you do not send your electricity meter indication, within the 48 hours, the next
bill shall be issued by estimation.
We look forward to your contribution for the success of this effort. Our goal is to protect the
health and confront our common threat of coronavirus.

Must admit I sent off a meter reading to AIK when it was due on 3rd April as I didn't want an estimated bill and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the meter had been read. Not only that I also had the 10 per cent discount on the bill as per the link below:

It looks like the trial system is over for me , the meter reader has just been to my house .

I took a photo of my meter reading last week and sent it via the EAC email address as I did for the previous bill. I received a polite reply acknowledging and thanking me. I shall continue doing this until I’m advised to stop. 🙂. I like this method because you can work out approximately what your bill may amount to, providing EAC do not keep swapping and changing the cost of all the added ons. :roll:
