Computer SOS

Post by Dominic »

Brian contacted me to tell me that they are closing as of 5PM this evening. After that, if you have an emergency you should send them an SMS on 99251726.

I think the reason may be that because people cannot go out, almost everyone has their TV box on.
We have ITV on at the moment and it is running OK
If you are trying to watch one of the main UK channels, try watching the 'backup' one

It’s stuff on catch up that seems the worst...and I think that there’s probably less folk watching than in the height of the summer months

On what do you base that assumption?

Basic maths really, an awful lot of people have left the island recently and a lot of people are here for long periods of time with a TV subscription so less people watching or streaming TV?
Just a thought

Here's another thought. No bars or restaurants are open so everybody is sat at home watching TV.

I believe the stuttering of TV service is as posted a huge rise in people watching, not a lot you can do about this, maybe try resetting the unit, this may help.

I'm assuming we won't lose our service although we are unable to go in and pay for it? Ours is due on the 1st of every month.

Yesterday, we used computers and ipad, watched a film and two episodes of a series on Kodi, watched live TV and Catchup TV, we had no buffering or anything like what people are describing.
So imho it cant be overloading of internet use, we do not use a magbox or pay subscriptions for the privilege of owning one.

Uncle hello, I have used the Internet to watch films and programs (I still do) the same as your good self, but would never go back to that system, happy to pay for our two MAG servers, by the way I did have a problem with one server last night on catch up only, but our other system was as normal..I think it was internet problem, all seems normal today, maybe because the sun is out? and no so much Internet being used.

Dominic this morning many Internet users are not on line, tonight maybe different? my Cyta service saying 32MB this is normal and have no trouble as yet. Tonight maybe different... :!:

Our Internet supplier is bemoaning [ rightly so ] that he has lost a lot of money as a large number of his users who come for the summer are not here therefore not using their Internet. Should this loss of users not compensate for the increased use of us who are here ?

Meanwhile, people are dying so tell him shut the f*#k up and put people before money!

Alternatively, he could ask the government to compensate him for lost revenue which is largely deemed as an illegal practise?
