Cyta free upgrades....


Just done a speed test and my Internet speed has increased to 30mbs from 20mbps no charge every little helps.

There is a very slight price increase.

Really did not notice that but happy with the third better Internet speed...

We were due to be upgraded from 10mbs to 20mbs under the upgrade scheme. But we have not been upgraded - so we contacted CYTA who got their engineers to check our line. However after repeatedly chasing them we have been informed that our line will not support the higher speed as we live in Ineia village which is too far from their relay transmitter. I asked if they had plans to upgrade the lines in the area but the CYTA representative did not know of any plans - as a result he offered to change our speed back to 10mbs at the reduced price - saving approx €10. Not the outcome we wanted but at least we are not going to be charged for something they cannot supply.

I didn't notice either, but the rep told me about it when I went to see them about not receiving bills.

A friend of mine had the same result as his house was too far from, cytas box.

I was curious because I haven't noticed any improvement , so I just checked. Ping.32ms. Jitter.73ms. Download.15.1 Mbps. Upload. 2.1.
I tried again a few minutes later. Ping. 30. Jitter. 2. Download. 12.5 Mbps. Upload. 2.1.
I am not tech savvy and don't know what any of them mean, but the download is nowhere near 30 Mbps.

Agree Cytas service is second to none, phoned them last week, they told me how many laptops etc we were using on the internet in my home, they told me the correct speed, and up graded my house and business withing minutes....

Primetel are also (at last) notifying customers about a doubling of download speeds from April. Again with small increase in the bill. €2 a month for 10 to 20Mb.

I have checked my speed, I pay for 30mb download and 4 upload. For 2 days now my upload has increased to 8mb and my download is fairly consistent around 30mb

Just read that Cyta have increased the speed FOC for as long as the crisis lasts to help homeworkers, ..........what a service.
