What is the Paperwork Procedure for selling a car privately please?....

When I bought one privately we both (buyer and seller) went to the Citizens centre with the paperwork for the car. As I was buying I had to have a certificate of insurance in my name.. They do the paperwork and issue a new 'log book' for a small fee.. We then went to the sellers house and I paid him the money and he gave me the keys for the car .. I suppose I could have paid him at the Citizens centre but it was more private at his home..
