UK passport renewal online

I have just renewed my sons passport online with the UK passport agency and was surprised that you no longer need to send a hard copy photograph but just take one yourself and attach electronically to the renewal application.

Makes life easier and wondered how long this has been the case.

It has a been a couple of years now. The only time you may need to send a hard copy pic, is if the features have changed through age etc.

But when you say you have renewed it online, I assume you are in the UK.. A renewal from Cyprus entails sending your old passport to the UK..

Yes it was renewed online from the UK, old passport sent in and the whole process took 10 days.
