73 drivers booked in one night

Post by memory man »

More than 70 drivers were booked for various driving offences during a police safety campaign on the secondary road network in the Paphos district on Wednesday night, while a woman who tested positive for driving under the influence of drugs was arrested.

A total of 115 cars were stopped and 73 drivers were booked — 43 for speeding and the rest for offences such as failure to renew their road tax, no insurance and not wearing a seat belt.

Moreover, a 28 year old woman was arrested after an initial test showed she was driving under the influence of drugs.

The woman failed to stop at a red light and was pursued and stopped by traffic police. They also found she did not have a driving licence or insurance.

The woman was charged and released pending the results from the second drug test.

Lotsa fuzz about at Elephant Bay on Sunday afternoon.

Every car (metraphorically) that approached you in the opposite direction flashed their headlights so you knew what was happening around the corner.
