This morning at Paphos General Hospital, the computer system
went down...........twice. I was in queue at registration along
with about 30 others the first time, so ( nothing was announced )
we went to cafe for coffee. Went back in after about 40 mins and
system was on again, so back in queue, near the end. After about
another 15 mins it went off again for about 30 mins.
At this time I wandered off to the flu jab clinic, and lo and behold
I received the flu jab, and there were quite a few waiting too.

Re: General Hospital chaos
MM, This just is not good enough, as my GP told me they should demolish this hospital and start again. The flu jab fiasco just reiterates this.Glad you have yours.
Jim.

It looks as though work has started to build the new Kidney Dialysis Unit. As for the existing building, it just needs a refurb along with staff training.

WHL as your link says '' Hospitals are the bloodline of human lives'' you say my GP is Dr Maxim who used to be a GP at the General, and he is correct they most certainly do need another General hospital in Pafos, the one they have now is dire, a lot worse than we first started to use it 18 years ago, it is filthy and it's services are very limited, and why? those who are maybe ill have to go off to Limassol and beyond to get treatment, this is just not right, maybe one time when you really need help you will find this out, and this Gesy system is also useless, many of those who need surgical treatment will have to pay or wait until next June, if you are still alive.
Trev there is plenty of spare ground around the town, yes cash could be a problem and staff to man it up, but now they have oil I'm sure the Government could easily cover the cost, nobody here can say it is not needed. I sometimes despair with they way the public are treated medically on Cyprus, it is almost third world.

A few points. apart from the first month when Gesy first started, and there was a shortage of drugs, we have found it to be excellent, both the GP and specialists we have seenJimX wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 3:52 pm I guess your GP hasnt got a scooby doo , how much a new hospital costs to construct and furnish this might help

Quote, ''But now they have the oil the government could easily cover the cost'', do you ever watch the news or read the papers , there isn't any oil yet, it will take many many years before Cyprus sees any money,
You obviously dont know what a third World Hospital is, or you wouldn't be comparing the Hospitals/medical care here, with them.
Re: General Hospital chaos
OK you seem to know it all, but the fact is Pafos does need another hospital oil or no oil..
Again I hope you do not need surgical treatment on Gesy, good luck to you on that, and yes I do have experience of this.
Also WHL I fail to understand why you feel the need to quote every member each time you reply, we can read. This is really stupid!!

Re: General Hospital chaos
From Wikipedia..................
Paphos General Hospital is the Paphos district's main medical centre. With four stories and 25,000 square metres (270,000 sq ft) this pyramid shaped hospital is designed to offer to patients first aid to MRI Scans. When opened in 1992 it was considered one of the best medical centers in the Middle East.[citation needed] Nowadays this is not valid. The hospital was left to decline and it is currently unable to handle the rapidly growing population of Paphos. For minor expanding needs a few of the several atriums were transformed to interior spaces, but currently everybody is talking for an emergency expansion into land next to the facilities owned by the hospital. The hospital operates all the necessary departments. Within there is also a 200 seat auditorium, and there is a heliport right next to the emergency department.
