For sure the announcement from Elon Mask today to built another Giga Factory for e-cars and batteries near Berlin will make the German car producers BMW and Mercedes more nervous and hectic as they are already. But it is good that they have to realize that they must be much quicker than in the past few years to present their own brand e-cars and hybrids before others get too dominant. There are more and more battery producer in Germany which will reduce the prices and weights of the batteries in the very near future. Here the article from today's German Press...

My post was not about politics though.... even when I was itching to be gloat over it ... it should show where the trend with future car production goes, soon..

Totally agree Lloyd. Really fear for our economy in North Wales as we rely on the Merseyside, Deeside car plants and Airbus Broughton for a huge amount of employment.
We have bought VW cars for the last 25 years and feel they have been slow off the mark with their range of electric cars. Our last purchase, a Golf SV Diesel, replaced our old Golf, which had done well over 200,000 miles. No hybrids were available, only the Golf electric, which would not have been suitable for our motoring needs. eg, left at the airport for a month or more whilst we are in Cyprus.

Re: Next e-car Giga plant after VW in Germany: Tesla
There are some more news in the press why Tesla is building another new factory - now in Europe - in Germany. Already uses Tesla in it's cars many components produced from 36 different German automotive suppliers. So one can say Tesla cars are largely made of German technology.
No wonder that Musk decided to produce in future in Germany where all his important suppliers are. (so no chance for American taxes on the parts as from Trump was announced several times!!) On top of it a first 300 million subsidy from the German taxpayer is available for him...

People are comparing his new truck with DeLorean in looks but I think his company compares with DeLorean in more ways than one. At least this time if it " hits the fan " it will be the German tax payer picking up the tab and not the UK.

For me a ugly design, but already 146.000 ordered, mainly perhaps the low price of 39.500 USD is the reason. It shows how much lower the price for huge batteries is already and will be even lower in the near future with more battery factories getting ready to produce...

Ford F-150 sells nearly a million per year and they are working on a Hybrid and an all Electric as are GM and Dodge. That is some competition.cyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 4:32 pm For me a ugly design, but already 146.000 ordered, mainly perhaps the low price of 39.500 USD is the reason.
