The other day we popped down to see what Evretou looked like now that the reservoir water levels had receeded. We couldn't believe the mess we found when we got there...

Re: Fishermen's Shame
Looks horrible! But unfortunately leaving litter behind of whatever type seems to be endemic with some people on this lovely island. So not a great surprise.
Maybe whichever service of the local municipality should be asked to visit Evretou and do a clean up there? Not really suitable refuse for school children to handle. Discarded fish hooks, tins with jagged edges and so on, If there are no refuse bins there it might help to provide them?
Wonder what happens about removing litter at other fishing reservoirs such as Asprokremnos?

Re: Fishermen's Shame
Refuse bins aren't the answer. They just get full up and the rubbish overflows. People need to learn to take their rubbish home with them.

I agree about take your rubbish home.. Whatever it may be they bring it there in bags one assumes.
What is so difficult about using the same bags to take stuff away .

Re: Fishermen's Shame
Exactly! If there was a kiosk there selling stuff which was then getting dumped, you could blame it on the kiosk. But there isn't. I cannot believe they catch so much fish that they don't have any room in the car to take their rubbish back with them.
