Applying for MEU3 in Advance

Post by Varky »

Both myself and my wife hold MEU1 certificates issued on 26/11/14. Does anyone know if the Immigration Department will entertain applications for MEU3s marginally before the 5 year qualifying date of 26/11/19. Any advice?

Surely it's 5 years from moving to Cyprus, not 5 years from getting MEU1.
In that case as we moved to Cyprus on 4 August 2014, we will give it a go now.

Thanks to all for responses

The answer is NO. You have to prove by providing evidence of five continuous years in Cyprus. Such as electric bills, bank statements.

Correct, the time counted is from when you arrive in Cyprus with the intention of residing here. This is the date I have always used on various UK and Cypriot official forms. I kept my flight and boarding card details for a number of years as additional proof of the date of arrival.

As Lincoln says you have to provide proof of living in Cyprus for a minimum of 5 years to apply for MEU3 status.

I used my 5 yrs of continuous electricity bills and the title deeds as part of my proof of residence on island. I didn’t need bank statements.
