Flu Vaccine late arrival

Post by Kili01 »

This morning I went to the General Hospital hoping to get my flu jab done.
No luck, when I arrived the door to the room was closed.after waiting about waiting to see if it reopened after the advertised staff coffee break at 11am.
No joy. So spoke to the nurses next door.
The flu vaccine hasn’t come yet, it was ordered late this year...
It is now expected to arrive next month.

So there's no point in going there at present.
I checked with a large Pharmacy I use in Paphos. They have none either for now, but are expecting a delivery of the vaccine later this month...

Stay healthy is the advice!

Already an increase in people coughing and sneezing - selfish I know, but I was pleased that I was seen by the doctor before the next patient and advised the doctor to put on a face mask after I had finished my consultation - which was duly done. Time of year for me to be taking extra precautions too.

I was at Limassol General Hospital last Friday and in the public areas, particularly the area leading to the Patient Registration Counter, there were many signs in Greek and English telling patients that if they had a cough or flu symptoms to put on a mask and use alcohol gel on their hands before registering and to wear the mask the whole time they were in the hospital.

Also send Jim 'Get Well' wishes.

Can the flu vaccine be prescribed by the PD? I realised pensioners get it free at the GH, but what about the youngsters?

We were at our doctor’s clinic today (GESY) and there was a conversation in the waiting room that one pharmacist in Polis had a supply of flu vaccine. You can buy it from him at €12 and take it to the doctor to administer.

From GESY:-
Thank you for contacting us. The influenza vaccine will be covered by the General Healthcare System (GHS) for beneficiaries that are above 65 years old or are susceptible to illnesses. However there is no official update regarding the procedure yet.
