New blood test at your GESY GP..

Post by JimX »

Morning...

Having needed to see my GP yesterday he said I needed to have a full blood panel test and also a urine test and I duly paid the fee (1 euro each) and I will also need to be seen by the Urologist very soon another 6 euros, this was all completed within 30 minutes of arriving at the hospital and why I think it best to use a GP at a private hospital, the GP was free of charge, I have received this from GESY this morning in my inbox, this is part of that email.

My wife had blood tests done at the GP's Clinic on Wednesday.. She will collect the results today and then go on to see the specialist doctor at a Private Hospital ...
I believe that you can use any Gesy registered laboratory to have your blood tests done at ..

Yes I believe that is correct Trev, but many have gone and registered with a GP that has no facilities for any testing, so you would as you say have find a GESY clinic that does, most private hospitals have all of these facilities and no need to look for a GESY clinic, more or less thought this would happen and why we decided to look away from our intended GP..

By the way I was very impressed with my first encounter with my GESY GP who I also used at the General, no getting up at the crack of dawn either, parking also very easy, lets all hope these standards remain, as I left it was starting to get very busy though.

My gp did mine in the surgery at my app results next day. back from the lab and they took them and collected them for me. 1e per test so much better than at the general. Think it depends on your gp.

Had 3 blood tests done for thyroid levels - last year was €50 through a package done by the laboratory opposite Chloraka Papantoniou and this year through GESY the same tests cost €3.

The surgeon at the General Hospital minor surgery clinic last Monday prescribed several blood tests before I could have a CT scan. I paid €1.00 for each blood test and €10.00 for the CT scan at the sticker window. I booked the CT scan at the Radiology Dept for the following Friday. I then went back to the blood taking dept. and they took the blood. All within 30 minutes. I attended for the CT scan at the appointment time of 08.30 on the Friday and was finished and out of the hospital by 09.10. Results were on line later on Friday but hard copy will be collected on Monday just before going to see the surgeon again.

About 6 weeks ago I was prescribed an ultrasound test.Booked an appointment at the General for 2 weeks later. I thought that was a bit long under my circumstances so went to the Evangelismos to see if they could improve upon that. Best they could do under GESY was a month later. Could have had it done a week later, privately but the cost would have been €100.00 as opposed to €10.00 at the General

No complaints with the General, but if all of you want to go elsewhere, that's up to you but I am quite happy there. I do accept that the General is not as 'luxurious' as some of the private hospitals/clinics

PS no problems with parking either at the General.

As the post is mainly about Blood tests... and the General Hospital has been mentioned, has anyone else had the General hospital lose their blood test results.. It has happened more than once to both my wife and myself.. :-( That is one of the reasons for not going there.

Also a question re blood tests at the general.. You used to be restricted from 7am to 9am... Can you now go later in the morning or in the afternoon ??

Trevnil
After my visit to the surgeon last Monday it would have been about 11.00hrs when I had blood taken. Never had my results go missing over the last 5 years.

Yes lost my results twice and why I used to pay privately to get them done and picking up the results next day to take to your GP. This new system seems good even though they did not say where to see the results, just off now to see what to do and try and get an appointment for the Urologist.

Part two..

Called my hospital for my blood and urine test I had in part one of this thread, now the down side I have just picked up the results of those tests, very easy, but no doctor to explain the results, had to make an appointment for the 3rd of October, (next week) they gave me a referral note to see a Urologist but none available on GESY at that hospital (Anvagelismos)and they could not tell me where there was one either, I could of course pay private but this means this GESY system is not up to the task and will leave many in trouble, do they care? well it looks to me this is a cop out and for older ex-pats this in the long term is very worrying.

They do have Urologist in this hospital but only in the private pay up sector many of us cannot afford, so if you know a GESY Urologist please let me know.

You have a PM Trev..

Dr. Mavroumatis is a urologist and operates out of Paphos General. I see him or his assistant every 6 months for a PSA check up.

I may be wrong, but First Name & Last Name seems to be
the name of the Healthcare Professional ie. Specialist.
Click the "i" and it tells you this.
