A long read about the motorway

Post by Dominic »

Here's a link that may be interesting to those of you with a smattering of Greek. It is a rather large planning document concerning the new motorway.

There is a picture of the route on page 365.

NB the document takes a while to load.

Sadly after a few tries the document still will not load for me. I just get a message "The site can't be reached "

Thank you Dominic for the excellent link. Specially all the maps from page 480-553 are very interesting. The area where one can find lovely crystals will also be affected if they built the motorway, which looks like will happen soon...

It looks like that they have already started the project as from today there is a caterpillar working on a hill where the future motorway will cross the Konia to Episkopi road.

Further there is on page 13 of the new Gov information site about all projects in Cyprus a starting date of Feb 2020 to finish 2023, costs 83 MM.

Must be a new arrival, as I was there yesterday taking some photos for a blog on the route. There's a nice little gorge below that road. The motorway will run to the right of this pic, if the plans are accurate.

Max, this will actually turn out to be a wonderful opportunity to find some fresh crystals! Road excavations are the best opportunity to unearth stones without having to dig yourself ;) i suggest that you go there when the excavations take place!
