Employees of the Pafos Municipality decided to take strike action

Post by memory man »

Employees of the Pafos municipality decided at a general meeting yesterday to take strike action protesting against the non-signing of the collective agreement.

The plan is to have a 24-hour strike on September 24 unless agreement is reached between the municipality and the unions.

It is noted that the Municipality of Paphos is one of the few municipalities in Cyprus that have not signed this contract that covers all employees.

The mayor of Paphos, Phaidonas Phaidonos, insists on illegal increases in the previous contract that cost the municipality, and therefore taxpayers, the extra amount of 140,000 euros a year, and demands that their workers be amended. who point out that the Audit Office has been consulted on this issue and there is nothing that is admissible.

The Mayor of Pafos also cites some articles of the contract and some benefits that workers in some municipalities appear to have that not all local government employees enjoy.
