I actually knew that one!
He used to annoy me. There was a kids program on ITV back in the 80s, called Magpie. Every so often he used to appear on it and sing a song. It was always shit, because we were kids, and Peter Skellern didn't write stuff that kids liked. I never understood why they had him on instead of a group that any kid might actually have heard of. No, it was always Peter bloody Skellern.
Years later I learned he was married or dating one of the producers of the show.
Why he thought that appearing on Magpie would do his career any good I don't know. It just made a generation of kids, who might otherwise have grown into his songs, detest him.
