Democracy is the government 'by the people'. Not the indirect government of the people by appointed representatives.
So, a monarchy and a House of Lords is also democracy? What about judges who set and rule on laws? Should they be elected?
I thought we were discussing the unelected leaders in the EU. Pointing out the anomalies in our own system, which, despite its warts, is a democracy does not address the theme of the thread. Judges apply the laws enacted by parliament and the government. They do not create laws by themselves.

I was relating the UK to the EU, to show that things aren't much different and since the EU is 27 countries it cannot be a single Federal state

No. It´s called representative democracy for the very reason that representatives (not delegates bound by the will of their constituency) are supposed to elect those in charge (like e.g. the PM in the UK or the Chancellor in Germany).

Actually, the UK isn't a democracy. It's a constitutional monarchy. If you want to check, just google for a list of countries that are not democracies. Just saying.

Thank you for the compliment, even though I know it wasn't. Perhaps you should learn to say it how it is rather than insinuating the opposite with snide comments. It would be more pleasant.

It is a democracy with a small 'd'. Yes, it is a constitutional monarchy but this does not prevent it being 'democratic'.
