GBP>Euro Exchange Rate

Good to see the £ strengthen against the € as a result of Mrs May's speech yesterday.
Expect a further substantial recovery when she triggers Article 50.
That prediction is NOT mine, but that of some friends who work in the City of London.
The worst is over following the scaremongering, and the only way now is UP :D .

Time will tell.
However, being paid in U.S. dollars I've had a good run for my money.

So which point are you using, the one you buy at or the one at which you sell? I always work on the mid-point for comparison purposes which 2 minutes ago was 1.1529!

Hope Scotland's free of England by then.
Yes so do we English. We will save a small fortune.
But why did you all vote to stay part of the UK?

This is now in the politics section. Personally I think it would be a great shame if the Union broke up. I am sure my view is not shared by everybody though!

It annoys me when we are supposed to be Great Britain and yet we have different rules - maybe only minor but in Scotland and Wales bus passes are available to everyone over 60 and yet in England they have to wait until pension age. Scotland seem to be very anti England at the moment so let them go their own way if they wish sink or swim and I have a feeling that they would be sunk within a year!

Scotland has always been anti English, not just at the moment.
I should know as I lived there for 20 years due to work commitments & in the end requested to be moved to another country abroad.

Geoff re the predictions of your friends in the city - before Xmas I spoke to John who is our local bod here in Paphos for Currency Solutions. He told me then that experts in the field who would normally get 99% of their predictions correct have no idea now and will not predict which way currency will fluctuate.

As a Scot, I am certainly not anti English. Sturgeon, or wee nippy as she is known in Scotland, needs to concentrate on managing the SNP created issues facing Scotland, and leave separation aside.
We have a bolt hole in Edinburgh, were Scotland (unlikely) to separate from the union, I would sell up and head south!!
We are a United Kingdom! We should remain so.

Also nice to see the pound strenthening slightly against the euro following May's Speach today in Davos.
She is awesome!
She should call an election to strengthen her position, she has little opposition!

Ouch, you are deluded, what oil revenues? Whisky sales will not support the Scottish
economy.
The Spanish will ensure that Scotland cannot join the EU.
England is Scotland's largest trading partner, do you want to pay taxes on exports to England?
Scotland would need to adopt the euro as a prerequisite of joining the euro zone, if allowed by the Spanish. Do you want to be paid in Euros?
Does Scotland want to be managed by Europe?

Excellent posts Wallace!
As a fellow Scot I totally agree.
Nicola Sturgeon is playing this for her own ego, wanting to be remembered as the one who takes Scotland out of the Union.
It didn't happen last time when Scotland was in a stronger position and most friends I speak to in Scotland would not even entertain the idea now.

Never heard her called wee nippy. Maybe amongst your friends.....

Where I go, at least where I did, they were not anti Nicola... were you meaning that where you go, they are? 8-)

Sturgeon is one of the best politicians in Scotland, knocking the labour, Tory and others into a cocked hat...

She has showed on national debates, she's up to debate with any politician in the U.K. Polls done nationally show that. You may not like her politics. But they're populist politics and shows that while most of Europe is heading to the right, Scotland has stayed to the left.....

Scotland voted overwhelmingly to stay in Europe. They voted last referendum, to stay in the U.K., but the over 70 demographic was the largest unionist vote. Nationalism was made out to be a bad word, yet in Brexit, it's suddenly good :D

I don't think there will be a vote for separation in Scotland, but I wouldn't follow your views that there are any more issu s in Scotland caused by the snp, as there are in England caused by the Tories. Or in Scotland caused by the Tories.

With your sentiments, I'm sure many would h lip you sell up in Edinburgh and bolt

Interesting, before the last referendum, when I travelled to Cumbria, Yorkshire, Northumbria, Cornwall and Wales, many people wanted the referendum to be about getting London out of the UK! :|

Good post!

The main problem with Sturgeon of course is that she is a Socialist...

Socialism has never worked anywhere but you know, if we just tried it again...? Perhaps if we taxed the rich harder, more state control, price controls, etc. perhaps it will work this time...?

Venezuela? No, they didn't try Socialism hard enough....

Sturgeon is an international laughing stock and has become a national embarrassment with her relentless whining and posturing.Scotland is going down the toiler quicker than a greased turd with her charge and the sooner Scotland has another independence referendum that she will loose (and she will) the better. Hopefully that will be the beginning of the end of these deluded fanatics
