Customs Grab Ham Sandwiches
Dutch officials confiscate ham sandwiches from UK visitors

Border officials in the Netherlands have confiscated ham sandwiches and other food items from UK travellers due to post-Brexit rules.
Dutch TV network NPO filmed customs patrols explaining to arrivals that they cannot take meat or dairy products into the EU.
One driver who arrived by ferry at the Hook of Holland sea port was left bemused after being told he would lose his ham sandwiches.
The man asked whether he can "take off the meat and you leave me the bread?"
But a border guard responded: "No, everything will be confiscated. Welcome to the Brexit, sir. I'm sorry."
New arrangements for UK travellers in the EU came into force when the Brexit transition period ended on December 31.

My wife likes watching those Airport customs fly-on-the-wall programs. Food stuffs are routinely confiscated there, and I am always amazed how much food the Taiwanese want to take with them on holiday.
This is no different from that. Just eat your sandwich before you get to the border, in the same way you might chugg your pop bottle before getting through customs at the airport.

Foot and Mouth in the UK around 2000/1 was believed to be caused by Chinese smuggling meat in from China.

Perhaps the customs personnel were hungry ?

Perhaps we can respond by not taking their hash and heroin?

That's what you supported, that's the rules for third countries whether you like it or not and it's not pretty or spiteful but to safeguard EU member countries.

Don't be ridiculous. If you walk out on a relationship, you would be incredibly arrogant if you assumed you could turn up on the doorstep and use the toilet. You have to obey the same rules as everybody else.
Or are you ok with UK customs allowing food from anywhere in at the airports?

That's ok as the EU can cut out the middle man and get their fish requirements in British waters whenever they like

And I do, every day. I think it's all working out brilliantly. In some respects, it is actually better than I thought .

You are either a wind-up merchant or an imbecile. You can enlighten us, as no reasonable person would act the way you doDiocletian wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 7:42 pm And I do, every day. I think it's all working out brilliantly. In some respects, it is actually better than I thought .

I can only think that he despises the UK so much he's happy to see peoples livelyhoods destroyed. Whether they are Remainers or Leavers I wouldn't wish that on anyone and would suggest anyone who agrees with his comments meets your second assessment.

Diocletian reminds me of that old Monty Python sketch "Spot The Brain Cell". That would be a challenge!

Nothing as rude as that is there? It is no wonder this forum appears to be populated by people that can, on a daily basis, insult and call people names, be rude to a serving British PM and then get offended when someone has the temerity to point out their deficiencies.
In that regard the predictable responses by certain people will generate a yawn on my part.

What I actually despise is mealymouthed cretins that constantly snipe at people in a demeaning way who have an opposing opinion to theirs on a subject.Jim B wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 8:22 amJim WJimgward wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:10 pmYou are either a wind-up merchant or an imbecile. If you want to criticise a Government constantly, why not choose the one of your host Country that has for 56 years operated outside of its own Constitution.
