Its been widely reported in the UK media that there is massive unemploynent in the UK due to Covid.Should you believe it?
I was talking to a friend of mine in the UK who owns a 51 years established and very successful company, and pay above the normal rate of pay for the industry.
He has been extensivly advertising for workers for a week now to complete an outstanding order book............The response............not even ONE reply,,He is not amused

Sorry, it is not the media that I disbelieve, in this case. A lot depends on the way the advertisements are worded. It also depends largely on the area where the job is available, ease of transport to it, perquisites etc. And, if the salary offered is close to the minimum, then many will think twice before applying.

The media are reporting different availabilities for work in different regions.

There is and will be even greater unemployment. It is reckoned it will now hit 4m by November. Many aren’t laid off yet because of furlough.
